Not Quite a Book Review

I had the honour of being asked to review a book, at least a month ago, and I must confess that life has got in the way. I am a quarter of the way through the book, I love it, and I thought I owed the author a glimmer of hope that a book review would be forthcoming. So for today, there is no book review, but there is a photoquote, from Derrin Cramer’s book, The Beginner’s Guide to Life on the Bright Side.

We often find it challenging to offer young gifted perfectionists a different way of viewing their work, and this emphasis on progress and personal bests is extremely helpful. The book includes some practical advice on helping children to track their own progress and notice improvements as well.

Derrin’s book is written primarily for parents, but I am finding it interesting from my teaching point of view as well as my parenting one. There is a section for teachers, too. I’ll get there, in the end, and you will be able to read a proper review one day!
